După ce ieri, Turneul Final ATP 2018 a debutat cu partidele Grupelor Lleyton Hewitt la simplu şi Llodra / Santoro, la dublu, astăzi a venit rândul Grupelor Guga Kurten, la simplu şi Knowles / Nestor la dublu să-şi dispute primele partide.

Până acum s-au încheiat două dintre ele:

Oliver Marach (Austria, 2 ATP la dublu) / Mate Pavic (Croaţia, 3) [1] – Pierre-Hugues Herbert (15) / Nicolas Mahut (17) (ambii Franţa) [8] 6-4, 7-6(3) în 1h46′

Alexander Zverev (Germania, 5 ATP) [3] – Marin Cilic (Croaţia, 7) [5] 7-6(5), 7-6(1)

Partida a durat 2h6′.
Cilic a reuşit primul break în jocul 2 al partidei şi astfel a ajuns să conducă 5-2, dar deşi a sevit pentru set la 5-3, cel mai aproape – la două puncte – a fost în jocul următor. În tie-break, Zverev s-a desprins la 5-2 şi 6-3, Cilic nemaireuşind decât să salveze două mingi de set.
Tot croatul a câştigat primul cu returul în setul 2, în jocul 7, dar acum Sascha a făcut imediat re-break şi  apoi a dominat categoric tie-break-ul, desprinzându-se de la 1-1.

Palmaresul direct între cei doi a devenit: 6-1, germanul câştigând ultimele 5 întâlniri, printre care şi semifinala ATP Masters 1000 Roma, în acest sezon.
Alexander Zverev a acumulat 200 de puncte ATP în urma acestei victorii, iar Marin Cilic, niciunul.
