WTA Montréal 2018: Câteva date despre turneu. Analiză succintă a tabloului.

Simona, înconjurată de echipa ei, antrenându-se la Montréal

Mâine va începe la Montréal, turneul WTA Premier 5 “Coupe Rogers présentée par Banque Nationale”, dotat cu o contribuţie financiară în valoare de 2.820.000 USD.

Open-ului canadian se dispută în oraşele Montréal şi Toronto, care alternează rolul de gazdă în fiecare an pentru turneul masculin (prima ediţie, în 1881), respectiv cel feminin (prima ediţie, în 1892).

La sfârşitul ştirii, finalele din Era Open, cu Simona Halep, câştigătoare a turneului în 2016 şi finalistă în 2015, Virginia Ruzici, finalistă în 1978 şi 1980, Sorana Cîrstea, finalistă în 2013 – la simplu şi cu perechea Simona Halep / Monica Niculescu, finalistă în 2016.

La Montréal, turneul se dispută în complexul IGA, numită până anul trecut Uniprix, care în afara arenei principale cu o capacitate de 8.000 de locuri, mai are alte 11 terenuri în componenţă, suprafaţa de joc fiind Deco Turf, aceeaşi ca la US Open.

Deţinătoarea titlului în proba de simplu – Elina Svitolina – este prezentă anul acesta, fiind cotată cap de serie 5.
De altfel, cei 16 capi de serie sunt din top 17 WTA, singura absentă este Madison Keys, care s-a retras înainte de începerea turneului, la fel cum o făcuse şi la WTA Premier San José, din cauza unei accidentări la încheietura mâinii drepte.
